Dit kunstwerk maakt deel uit van de landschapsinstallatie ‘Op visite bij Buckhorst’.
Een kunstwerk ter gelegenheid van de IJsselbiënnale 2023

Wellicht kijkt u op dit moment vanaf de Zalkerdijk uit over Landgoed Buckhorst, terwijl achter u het IJsselwater zich richting Kampen beweegt. Als u op deze plek zou staan, maar dan in het jaar 1841, dan zou u getuige zijn van de sloop van de Havezate Buckhorst. Vandaag resteert alleen nog de met riet overgroeide gracht die aangeeft waar de Havezate ooit stond.
Beeldend kunstenaar Wouter Klein Velderman plaatste ter gelegenheid van de IJsselbiënnale de plattegrond van havezate Buckhorst terug in het landschap, exact op de plek waar het immense bouwwerk ooit stond.
Omdat er in heel Nederland over de afgelopen eeuwen veel illustere kastelen, hofsteden en havezaten zijn verdwenen, organiseert Klein Velderman een feestelijke reünie voor negen afgebroken Nederlandse kastelen, nu heel even weer zichtbaar op Landgoed Buckhorst.
Kijkt u vanaf de dijk richting het zuiden, dan ligt direct voor u, deels verscholen onder oude eiken: Kasteel Stein, ooit een imposant kasteel in de provincie Limburg.
Iedere hoekpaal van het immense bouwwerk is voorzien van feloranje vest.
Op, aan en in die mantels nestelen zich tussen juni en september ontelbare insecten en andere kleine beestjes.
Kasteel Stein transformeert langzaam naar Insectenhotel Stein!
Half september loopt de IJsselbiënnale op z’n einde en mogen alle 42 feloranje insectenhotels uitvliegen naar tuinen van bezoekers van de IJsselbiënnale. Door insecten in uw tuin de mogelijkheid te geven zich te voeden en voort te planten, stimuleert u mede de biodiversiteit waardoor er betere of überhaupt bestuiving van gewassen kan plaatsvinden en plaaginsecten minder kans krijgen om overlast te veroorzaken.

Een feloranje Insectenhotel Stein 006 / 042 een kunstwerk van Wouter Klein Velderman voor de IJsselbiënnale 2023.
Ieder werk is uniek.

Genaaid en gelast PVC doek (vrachtwagendoek), stro, op A4 papier geprinte bouwtekening van de dragende constructie: de staande balk met dwarsbalk.
Niet meegeleverd:
De staande balk (±80x100mm 240cm) met dwarsbalk (±70x50mm 25cm), die als dragende constructie van het kunstwerk dient, wordt niet meegeleverd.

Perhaps you are currently looking out over Landgoed Buckhorst from Zalkerdijk, while behind you, the IJssel River flows towards Kampen. If you were standing in this spot, but in the year 1841, you would witness the demolition of Buckhorst Manor. Today, only the reed-covered moat remains, indicating where the manor once stood.
Visual artist Wouter Klein Velderman placed the floor plan of Buckhorst Manor back into the landscape on the occasion of the IJsselbiënnale, exactly where the immense structure once stood.
Since many illustrious castles, manor houses, and country estates have disappeared throughout the Netherlands over the past centuries, Klein Velderman is organizing a festive reunion for nine demolished Dutch castles, now briefly visible again at Buckhorst Estate.
If you look south from the dike, directly in front of you, partly hidden under old oaks, you will find Stein Castle, once an imposing castle in the province of Limburg.
Each corner post of the immense structure is equipped with a bright orange vest. Countless insects and other small creatures nestle on, in, and around these mantles between June and September.
Stein Castle slowly transforms into Insect Hotel Stein!
By mid-September, the IJsselbiënnale will come to an end, and all 42 bright orange insect hotels will be allowed to fly out to the gardens of IJsselbiënnale visitors. By providing insects in your garden with the opportunity to feed and reproduce, you contribute to biodiversity, enabling better or even any pollination of crops and reducing the chance of pest insects causing nuisance.
